Can I keep my existing telephone number and move it over to sipgate?

Generally, we are able to port your number/s to sipgate. There are however some providers and certain area codes that we are unable to port over from.

To check portability of your number, please contact our support team at team@support.sipgate.co.uk and include the telephone number which you wish to port in your email. As soon as we confirm that it is possible, we will then send you two application forms to fill out. Once you have them completed and signed, you'll then need to send them back to us, either as a scanned email attachment or by faxing them to us. Once we have received the forms, we will submit your porting request to your provider.

BT have the following timescales for completing a number port (guideline only):

  • Single line – 7 working days
  • Single line ( greater than 10 lines porting at same time ) – 17 days
  • PBX 10 lines or less – 10 days
  • PBX 11 lines or greater ( or Centrex site ) – 20 days
  • ISDN 10 lines or less – 10 days
  • ISDN 11 lines or greater – 20 days
  • Ports that involve splitting DDI or associated numbers - up to 25 days

We are however, unable to guarantee that the port will be carried out within the timescales listed above. Please use the above strictly as a guideline.

Once your provider has accepted the port, they will then provide us with the date on which the port will take place. We will then inform you of the specific porting date so that you can plan the changeover on your side. Once the port has been completed, the number will appear in your list of phone numbers and can then be used as you require.

The cost of porting your number over is £20 per number (maximum £75 for multi-line ports) and an additional £5 per number if you want the number to remain in the telephone directory. The amount has to be available in your account as credit before the porting request is submitted to us.

You will also need to ensure that all the details you include in the form are accurate. If the port is rejected due to incorrect details, you will still charged for the submission. If you are unsure of any details that we request you to provide, we recommend you to contact your provider for clarification.
